When you’re out camping in the wilds, the last thing you want to worry about is running out of juice to power your electrical appliances. Solar panels are an excellent method of generating clean, silent electricity if you enjoy the independent lifestyle of wild camping and we’re experts at finding and fitting the right system for your needs.

There are many different grades of photovoltaic panels available depending on your potential energy usage. For example, if you intend to run a laptop computer and satellite modem you’ll consume far more power and require more or bigger panels than someone who doesn’t. We can help you work out your potential power consumption and advise you which grade would be most suitable.

Satellite Installations

Fitting a satellite system is an easy way to ensure you don’t miss the latest cliffhanger in your favourite cable programme. LAS recommend and supply a number of different satellite systems, including the dish-based Oyster system and dome-shaped Camos system.

Whether you choose a dish or dome system, it’s really a matter of personal preference and each has its advantages and disadvantages. Although dish systems have an excellent range in the Southern hemisphere, they can move around in bad weather. Usually, this is just when you’ve settled in to watch your favourite TV programme and you’ll need to leave the cosy confines of your RV to adjust them back.

On the other hand, the dome Camos system will never need adjusting because of the weather and is based on GPS signals, rather than digital, allowing it to find a chosen satellite faster. However, it has a shorter range in the Southern hemisphere of about 150 miles compared to the Oyster, so if you travel extensively in Spain for example it might not be the right system for you.
