If you live, work or travel in a vehicle between 5-12 metres long and weighing up to 8.5 tonnes, suddenly petrol consumption and economy becomes extremely important. It’s no wonder many RV and Motorhome owners are switching to alternative cheaper sources of fuel. LPG conversions for fuel economy in RVsLAS is an LPGA member and specialises in converting RVs to LPG. Adding a second, independent fuel system offers a wide range of benefits including: • Cheaper fuel bills Fuel economy in European MotorhomesUnfortunately, LPG conversions to reduce emissions and driving costs in diesel-powered Motorhomes are not particularly suitable. In fact, the highest ratio of conversion we can perform is only around 15% diesel to gas, which is not enough to make it an efficient process and reduce motoring costs. In addition, the higher heat that result from an LPG conversion increases the combustion temperature in the engine leading to premature engine failure. For this reason we cannot recommend LPG conversions for diesel Motorhomes. However, we can recommend a Hiclone device which has all the same benefits of an LPG conversion and can reduce fuel costs by around 10%. The stainless steel Hiclone device sits inside the air induction system of the engine, changing the flow from straight to swirling and improving the ration of the air/fuel mixture. The result is an improved more efficient fuel burning process which produces less emissions, higher mpg, more torque, a quieter engine and of course a reduction of fuel costs of around 10% Domestic LPG conversionsIf you’re a fan of wild camping, using LPG for heating and cooking can prove a vital link to enjoying a comfortable trip, especially in the winter when it’s tough to get enough electricity from solar panels due to short daylight hours. LAS engineers can install either portable steel canisters or a refillable bulk tank underneath the vehicle and convert existing electrical cooking and heating equipment to gas. We’ll take care of all of the necessary safety aspects, such as ensuring your RV or Motorhome has adequate ventilation, leak detection equipment and storage (if necessary), and advise you on the pros and cons of using butane or propane depending on where you intend to travel and when.
